Food Network Star Jet Tila To Visit Penn State November 4-6

“Iron Chef Of America” competitor and Food Network star Jet Tila is visiting Penn State from November 4-6.

Tila is the first chef to represent Thai Cuisine, selected by the Royal Thai Consulate. He is also a three-time Emmy and James Beard nominee for his show “Ready Jet Cook.” In addition to his own TV show, he is also a best-selling author of the cookbook “101 Thai Dishes You Need to Cook Before You Die.”

His culinary experience is with the Pei Wei Group, which operates over 100 locations and has a managing partnership with Dragon Tiger Noodle Co. Tila has also partnered with NBC Universal and Scwan’s CJ food.

Tila will give a keynote speech on November 4 to students and staff of the School of Hospitality Management at the Keller building. Following the speech, he will hold a meet and greet with a book signing.

“Penn State has such an incredible energy — you can feel how much pride the students and staff have in their food community,” Tila said in a press release.

On November 5, Tila will be taking over Findlay Commons, providing dishes like Pepsi-marinated Korean Beef short ribs, drunken noodles, and cinnamon and five-spice donuts.

Tila will also host a cooking demo in Pollock Dining Commons on November 6, where he will cook for students. He is featuring some of his favorite recipes along with some surprise dishes.

“I love events like this because they’re about connection. Cooking live lets me share stories, techniques, and culture in real time. It’s inspiring to see young chefs and food lovers who are genuinely curious about flavor, and it reminds me why I started doing this in the first place,” Tila said in a release.
