Penn State football is set to play Michigan State on November 15 at 3:30 p.m. on either CBS or the Big Ten Network, the conference announced on Monday.
A trophy is on the line for Penn State for the first time in two years. The Nittany Lions and Spartans battle for the Land Grant Trophy. The rivalry began in 1993, with the trophy being created to honor the two universities as the country’s first land-grant institutions.
Michigan State is 3-6 and 0-6 in the Big Ten heading into its matchup with Terry Smith’s squad. The Spartans have a bye in week 11 before hosting the Nittany Lions. Michigan State has not finished with a winning record since 2021.
Penn State is 3-5 following its 38-14 loss to Ohio State. The Nittany Lions have also yet to register a Big Ten win this season and are welcoming in the No. 2 team in the country, Indiana, to Happy Valley on November 8.
The Nittany Lions last traveled to East Lansing, Michigan, in 2021, losing 30-27. Penn State and Michigan State last played in 2023 at Ford Field, home of the Detroit Lions. The Nittany Lions took it to the Spartans, posting a 42-0 shutout.
Penn State leads the all-time series 19–18–1 against the Spartans, with the Nittany Lions winning the most recent matchup in 2023.
