Penn State Announces Military Appreciation Week Events

Penn State will host its 14th annual Military Appreciation Week from November 7-16, recognizing active duty service members, veterans, and their families. 

To kick off Military Appreciation Week, Penn State women’s basketball will take on Cincinnati at 6 p.m. at the Bryce Jordan Center on November 7. Complimentary tickets are available for service members here. Also at 6 p.m., the Downtown State College Improvement District and the Penn State Military Appreciation Committee will reveal banners to honor local service members and veterans. The event will be held downtown and is by invitation only. 

On November 8, military families are invited to enjoy the Military Appreciation Tailgate, which will be held at the Bryce Jordan Center three hours before Penn State football’s kickoff against Indiana. The matchup serves as Penn State’s annual Military Appreciation Game. 

The Student Veterans Center will host a Marine Corps Birthday Celebration commemorating the 250th birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps on November 10 at noon.

On November 11 at 9 a.m. in Heritage Hall, Penn State will hold its annual Veterans Day Breakfast, recognizing Penn State students, faculty, and staff who have served in the military. There will also be a Veterans Day Ceremony, hosted by the Student Veterans Organization. The program will be held at the Old Main Plaza at 11:11 a.m. and will be livestreamed. Penn State Men’s Basketball will cap off the night against Navy at 6:30 p.m. at the Bryce Jordan Center. Complimentary tickets are available for service members here.

On November 12, the Woskob Family Gallery and Penn State Downtown Theatre will host their Pour Paints & Poppies event at 6:00 pm. Registration for the event is required by November 7.

The Military Appreciation Committee will host its Military Appreciation Luncheon in the Hintz Alumni Center at noon on November 13. Community members who have served are invited. Registration is required by November 7. There will also be a Military Trivia Night at Antifragile Brewing Co. at 6 p.m. that is open to the public.

To round out Military Appreciation Week, Penn State women’s volleyball faces Ohio State at 2 p.m. in Rec Hall on November 16. Discounted tickets are available for military members here.
