Transfer Portal Roundup: Week 11

What seemed like Penn State football’s chance to finally catch its break ended in yet another heartbreaking loss.

The Nittany Lions shocked the No. 2-ranked Hoosiers; however, they ultimately fell at the hands of Indiana’s Heisman-contending quarterback, Fernando Mendoza, after a late scoring fourth-quarter touchdown with 36 seconds left to play.

In turn, many former Penn State football players shone a brighter light in the college football world this weekend. Here’s a look at how they made an impact with their new programs.

Harrison Wallace III, Ole Miss

The wide receiver recorded a season-high 87 receiving yards on eight receptions in the Rebels’ 49-0 shutout win over The Citadel. His longest grab of the day was good for 25 yards, tied for his second-longest catch of the season. The Rebels move up one spot in this week’s AP poll to No. 6.

Cam Miller, Rutgers

The defensive back recorded four tackles in the Scarlet Knights’ 35-20 win over Big Ten opponent Maryland. Of those four tackles, three were solo tackles and one was an assisted tackle.

Joseph Mupoyi & Smith Vilbert, North Carolina

Mupoyi, a defensive lineman, recorded five tackles, including two solo and three assisted, in the Tar Heels’ 20-15 victory over Stanford. His teammate Vilbert, another defensive lineman, recorded four tackles, including two solo and two assisted. Vilbert also recovered a fumble, which was forced by UNC linebacker Andrew Simpson on a sack, putting the Tar Heels at the 6-yard line.

Mekhi Flowers, Akron

The defensive back made a minimal impact in Akron’s 44-10 matchup over UMass this week, recording one solo tackle.

Tyrece Mills, UConn

Another former Penn State defensive back, Tyrece Mills, recorded a season-high six tackles in the Huskies’ 37-34 win over Duke. The senior recorded five assisted tackles and one solo tackle.
