Best Places To Cry During Finals Week

Finals week is right around the corner, folks.
Sleep disappears. Exams pile up. The academic spiral begins.
If you’re mentally preparing for your finals-induced meltdown (or meltdowns), don’t fret. We compiled the top places on campus for you to shed some tears.
In Front Of The Aquarium In The Hub
You know how parents make their babies watch sensory videos to calm them down? Same idea here. Put yourself right in front of the HUB Aquarium and let the fish distract you from all of the responsibilities you have. The soft bubbling and slow swimming are basically free therapy.

Your Assigned Spot At Pollock Testing Center
This is a spot to cry at, even if you don’t plan to cry here. The workers hand you a small slip of paper with a seat number. You find your seat, sit down, stare at the computer, and realize that you aren’t prepared for the exam at all. The Pollock Testing Center has a special talent for unlocking emotions you didn’t know you had. Honestly, if you don’t tear up at least once in this spot, are you even a student?

The Stacks
There’s no better place to disappear than deep inside the stacks in the Pattee and Paterno Library. Once you enter your own desk, it offers a perfect spot for a breakdown. Nobody can see your tears, shaking hands, or the way you stare at your notes in utter confusion.
Just keep the volume low. One sniffle too loud and you might get a few glares.

The Bus
There’s something about lying your head against the rattling bus and looking out the window that just feels like being the main character in a movie. Bonus points if it’s dark, cloudy, or rainy. Cue your most dramatic music and hope that no one is recording you wiping your tears on your sleeve as the bus hits every pothole in State College.

The Bookstore (In Between The Racks Of Merch)
This is a wildly underrated spot — wedged right between the clothing racks in the bookstore. It’s quiet, warm, and you’re even surrounded by super overpriced merch that can be used as a soft blanket! If you happen to be studying in the HUB with no time to spare, take a quick break to test it out. Don’t knock it ’til you try it.

Your Shower
A timeless classic. A shower cry hits best during finals week. It’s private, your tears blend in with the water, and for a few minutes, you can pretend that this cruel and harsh world we live in just disappeared.
Pro tip: If you play music on the speaker loud enough, it covers up the wailing noises while crying.
