Nittany Lions In The NFL: Week 16 Roundup

With Penn State on break, the Nittany Lions in the NFL are still going strong in week 16. Many students are catching up on much-needed sleep, so in case you missed some games, now’s your chance to catch up.

Here’s how some Penn Staters fared in week 16.

Saquon Barkley, Philadelphia Eagles

After below 100-yard performances, Saquon Barkley found his spark again and rushed for 132 yards in the Eagles’ win over the Washington Commanders. Barkley had 21 carries, averaging 6.3 yards, and one touchdown.

Tyler Warren, Indianapolis Colts

Tyler Warren brought in three receptions for 30 yards as the Colts lost 48-27 to the 49ers. Warren now has the franchise record for the most receiving yards by a rookie tight end, with 718 total yards.

Ji’Ayir Brown, San Francisco 49ers

Ji’Ayir Brown had a big game in the 49ers’ dominant win over Indianapolis, forcing a fumble on special teams in the first quarter. The safety also logged nine tackles, five solo, on the day.

Parker Washington, Jacksonville Jaguars

Wide receiver Parker Washington caught six passes for 145 yards and one touchdown in Jacksonville’s win over the Denver Broncos. Washington averaged 24.2 yards per reception, with a 63-yard run, and brought in five first downs.

Mike Gesicki, Cincinnati Bengals

Mike Gesicki brought in one touchdown in the Bengals’ dominant win over the Miami Dolphins. The tight end had three receptions for 35 yards, averaging 11.7 yards.

Other Notable Performances:

  • Odafe Oweh recorded two tackles, one solo, in the Los Angeles Chargers’ win against the Dallas Cowboys.
  • Tight end Pat Freiermuth caught four receptions for 20 yards in the Steelers’ win over Detroit.
  • Joey Porter Jr. also contributed to the Steelers’ victory, recording six tackles, four solo, against Detroit.
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin Jr. caught six receptions for 30 yards in a close loss to the Carolina Panthers.
  • Safety Jaquan Brisker had eight tackles, two solo, in the Chicago Bears’ overtime win against Green Bay.
  • Nick Scott racked up 10 tackles, nine solo, in the Carolina Panthers’ win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
  • New York Giants linebacker Abdul Carter had two tackles in the loss against Minnesota. A late neutral zone infraction by him cancelled out a 96-yard interception return for a touchdown.
