Former Iowa State Safety Hunter Sowell Transfers To Penn State Football

Former Iowa State safety Hunter Sowell has committed to Penn State football out of the transfer portal, he announced on Monday.

Sowell follows his older brother Chase Sowell, the former Iowa State wide receiver who also announced his intention to transfer to Penn State.

Sowell signed with Iowa State as part of the class of 2025, spending one season in Ames, Iowa. He chose the Cyclones over East Carolina and Prairie View A&M. He was unranked as a recruit by 247Sports.

The safety appeared in one game for Iowa State against Kansas, but did not record any stats. He preserved his redshirt and will have four years of eligibility remaining.

Sowell is the 17th former Iowa State player to follow head coach Matt Campbell.
