Penn State Men’s Lacrosse Trio Earns Big Ten Weekly Honors

Three Penn State men’s lacrosse players — Alex Ross, Hunter Aquino, and Preston Hawkins — all earned Big Ten weekly honors, the program’s most in a week since March 2024.

Ross was named Defensive Player of the Week after recording a season high three groundball recoveries and three caused turnovers against Princeton. The captain helped hold the No. 3-ranked Tigers’ strong offense to just seven goals in the 13-7 upset.

Aquino was named Offensive Player of the Week, leading the scoring against Princeton with a hat trick. The sophomore also caused two turnovers and scooped up four groundballs, a new career high.

Rounding out the awards is Preston Hawkins as Big Ten Freshman of the Week. In just his third start and second full game of his career, he had a career-high 11 saves against Princeton. The seven goals against were also a season low.

The Nittany Lions will head on their second road trip of the season in Annapolis, Maryland. They’ll take on Navy at noon on Saturday, February 21. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
