An Open Letter To Chipotle: Increase Your Food Supply & Give Bigger Portions

Chipotle is one of the most popular food chains for college students. It offers healthier food compared to other processed or fried options. I know many people in State College have been wanting this to be addressed, and I believe it’s time to do so.
We need to fix the food supply that downtown Chipotle offers. I understand it’s in a college town, and many people place orders every day. It seems fair to assume they run out quickly because of how busy it can be, right?
Well, I also look at it the other way. If you’re in a college town, especially one with this many students, I think you should be prepared for the amount of orders placed and adapt to the environment.
Imagine walking in and hearing, “What can I get you? But before you order, we are out of rice, chicken, cheese, lettuce, and corn.” That’s almost my whole bowl. There have been many times when I walked in, and half the bar was empty.
An extra supply of food items would definitely increase production and help everyone get the full meal they desire. When I’m having a long day and get a small burst of excitement thinking about my Chipotle bowl to fill my void of joy, it’s emotional when my dreams are crushed before they can even materialize.
Also, the online orders have recently been very unsatisfactory. I’ve received multiple bowls that were half-filled. The wait is very long, and it typically takes extra time to come out.
It also doesn’t help when the line for in-person orders goes out the door. I can’t blame the restaurant for possibly being understaffed, but it would be nice if there was a change of pace. The line is often slow and can take 15-20 minutes just to be able to make it to the front.
I respect the amount of work each employee gives to fill the many college students’ stomachs that come in every day. I really feel as if there shouldn’t be a constant food shortage problem almost every time I place an order.
It comes to a point where all of these issues can’t stand any longer. There needs to be a constructive plan to improve the efficiency of the establishment. It’s frustrating when you pay the price of a full bowl but receive less than expected.
I also believe the food supply that is transported on a regular basis should increase. Put in a few extra orders of chicken or rice. They’re the primary ingredients of the bowl. There shouldn’t have to be limits on the portion sizes or shortages on key food choices.
I’ve worked in restaurants, and I know the complications and stress the food industry can bring. It’s very fast-paced, and every employee has to be ready on the fly. Customer service needs to be on point, and each person should walk out happy.
Things go wrong all the time, and that’s expected, but only to a certain point. It can’t be on a regular basis where lines are too long to wait in, or there’s a food shortage.
So, Chipotle, I know there could be internal issues I don’t know about or understand. But I do know customer satisfaction could be improved. Please consider finding solutions to food shortages, wait times, and portion sizes. Many people in State College will be very appreciative.
