Report: Penn State Men’s Hockey Defenseman Cade Christenson Transfering To Providence College

Penn State men’s hockey defenseman Cade Christenson is transferring to Providence College, per Mark Divver on Tuesday.

After being hurt for the first half of the season, Christenson came back against RIT in early January. He scored five goals on the season and blocked 19 shots.

In the 2024-25 season, he stood out as a young physical presence on the team. He scored two goals and seven assists that season and helped propel the Nittany Lions to the Frozen Four. He was named to the All-Big Ten Freshman team and led the Big Ten in blocked shots.

He is now the second player to find a new home after Nic Chin-Degraves transferred to Arizona State. Only 14 players from the 2025-26 season remain on the roster after several players departed due to transferring, professional contracts, and graduation. However, the team recently landed Vermont defenseman Caeden Herrington in the transfer portal.
