Kaytron Allen Drafted No. 187 Overall By Washington Commanders

Former Penn State football running back Kaytron Allen was drafted by the Washington Commanders with the No. 187 overall pick in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft. His selection makes him the eighth member of the Nittany Lion offense to be taken in this year’s class. Additionally, he and Nick Singleton, who was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the fifth round, became the first Penn State running back duo to be drafted in the same year since Stephen Pitts and Mike Archie in 1996.

Allen leaves Happy Valley after four seasons with the blue and white, holding sole possession of the program’s rushing record at 4,180 yards.

In addition to being Penn State’s all-time leader in rushing yards, Allen will head to Washington riding the high from a career season in the basic blues. In 12 games, he racked up 1,303 yards on the ground, finding the end zone 15 times. His 6.2 yards-per-carry in 2025 was the highest mark during his collegiate career.

Despite the Commanders having Bill Crosky-Merrit, Rachaad White, and Jerome Ford on their squad, Allen will look to take on some of his workload and begin his career splitting carries or as an effective rotation option.

But Allen is no stranger to success while sharing touches; Fatman did so with Nick Singleton throughout their time in State College. The tandem managed to each put up impressive numbers over the course of their respective careers, demonstrating the selflessness and productivity Allen carries with him.

The 5’11”, 219-pounder brings early-down experience and a physical running style to. He will look to use his toughness and consistency to excel in a backfield with Jayden Daniels.

While Allen has proven that he isn’t the fastest guy around and lacks talent in the receiving game and in the explosive-play department, he makes up for it with his ability to accelerate at the line of scrimmage and his vision.

Allen will have a buddy in Washington, as he joins former Penn State linebacker Odafe Oweh in the locker room.

Folks can follow along to see which other Nittany Lions are selected on day three of the draft on ESPN, ABC, and NFL Network.
