Penn State Football Freshman Quarterback Peyton Falzone Practicing At Tight End

Freshman Penn State football quarterback Peyton Falzone has been practicing at the tight end position, Sean White of Blue-White illustrated, reported on Wednesday, and Penn State confirmed.

While it’s unknown whether Falzone will get reps at tight end during the season, or if it’s simply an experimental move, the adjustment is consistent with Falzone’s versatility that quarterback coach Jake Waters preached last week at Media Day.

At 6’5″ and 216 pounds, Falzone possesses unique athleticism for a quarterback. In high school, weighing 200 pounds, he clocked a 4.50 40-yard dash and recorded a 38-inch vertical jump.

“You can get super creative with guys that can throw and then run too. So you never know exactly where we would get to him, but the possibilities for him are wide open with his athletic ability,” Waters told Mark Wogenrich of Sports Illustrated.

With Rocco Becht set to be the starting signal caller for the Nittany Lions in 2026, and Alex Manske well positioned to be his successor, exploring different roles may be Falzone’s clearest path to playing time.

“We’re gonna kind of let his body just go naturally where it’s gonna go and see,” Waters said.

Matt Campbell and company have continued to emphasize “multiplicity” as fall camp gets underway. Whether it be giving Caleb Bacon reps at edge or Falzone working out at tight end, it’s clear that Penn State will look to get the most positional value out of its players.

Penn State’s last converted quarterback, Tyler Warren, turned out alright for the Nittany Lions.
