Spring 2026 Commencement Weekend Weather Forecast

Happy graduation week, folks!

If you’re walking the stage this weekend, or just spectating, make sure to pack both sunglasses and an umbrella. Happy Valley’s commencement forecast is bringing a little bit of everything.

Here’s a closer look at what weather to expect throughout commencement weekend.

Friday, May 8

Friday’s forecast is shaping up to be cool, breezy, and mostly cloudy with a daytime high near 60 degrees Fahrenheit. According to AccuWeather, the afternoon real feel is expected to be closer to 56 degrees Fahrenheit due to the wind and cloud cover. Cloud coverage is forecasted to remain high throughout the day, reaching nearly 82%.

Bring an umbrella and a raincoat because there is a 55% chance of precipitation, including an 11% chance of thunderstorms. Winds are expected to be around 15 mph, with stronger gusts reaching up to 30 mph.

Despite the gloomy conditions, there may be occasional breaks in the clouds that allow the sun to shine through.

Saturday, May 9

Saturday brings even wetter conditions to commencement weekend, with an 87% chance of precipitation and a 17% chance of thunderstorms throughout the day. Temperatures will remain cool, reaching a high near 60 degrees Fahrenheit, while the real feel is expected to stay around 59 degrees Fahrenheit.

Unlike Friday’s windy conditions, winds will calm down significantly on Saturday, with winds around 8 mph and gusts up to 13 mph. Graduates may not have to worry as much about their caps blowing away, but umbrellas and jackets will still be essential.

Cloudy skies will continue into Saturday, with an expected 91% cloud cover, keeping conditions pretty gloomy for most of the day.

Sunday, May 10

Sunday offers the best chance of improved weather during commencement weekend, with slightly warmer temperatures and more sunshine throughout the day. Highs are expected to reach 64 degrees Fahrenheit, while the real feel temperature could climb to around 70 degrees Fahrenheit in the afternoon.

Although there is still a 49% chance of precipitation and a 10% chance of thunderstorms, conditions appear calmer compared to Friday and Saturday. Winds will remain light at around 7 mph, with some gusts reaching 17 mph.

Sunshine is expected in the morning, with clouds building in the afternoon to an 83% cloud cover. While a shower is still possible, Sunday seems to be the most comfortable day of the weekend for graduates, families, and friends celebrating across campus.
