Penn State Baseball Pitcher Isaiah Shayter Enters Transfer Portal

Penn State baseball starting pitcher Isaiah Shayter is entering the transfer portal, per 64Analytics. He has three years of eligibility remaining.
Shayter, who originally committed to Penn State as the No. 8 player and No. 4 right-handed pitcher in the state of Pennsylvania out of Elizabethtown in the Class of 2025, was immediately a key part of Mike Gambino’s pitching rotation as a true freshman in 2026.
One year after only having one consistent starter, Shayter was part of a three-man weekend rotation that included graduating senior Colin Fitzgerald on Fridays and junior Ben Hudson on Saturdays. Sunday was Shayter’s day, and he was out there every single week, tying the team lead with 14 starts.
In those 14 starts, he endured some growing pains, going 2-7 with a 9.43 ERA across 48.2 innings with 30 walks to 38 strikeouts. His primary issue was allowing hard contact, as batters hit .365 off him, but he slowly rounded into shape towards the end of the season, making back-to-back five-inning starts against Minnesota and Washington in early May, allowing just one run combined.
Shayter’s high velocity, sitting 93-94 on most days on his four-seam fastball, and remaining eligibility will surely draw interest from high-major schools. Penn State has not added a pitcher in the transfer portal yet, but is currently due to add top MLB Draft prospect Genei Sato for the 2027 season to bolster a now-depleted rotation.
