Penn State women’s hockey announced on Wednesday that Taya MacDonald and Grace Outwater will be this season’s team captains, with Abby Stonehouse and Nicole Hall serving as alternate captains.

MacDonald, a junior defenseman, recorded three goals and eight assists last season. She has provided consistent pressure on the ice, posting a career plus/minus of +56, which ranks 10th in program history. Last season, she finished with a plus/minus of +38, ranking third in Penn State’s single-season record book.

Outwater, a junior forward, recorded 24 goals and 16 assists in her sophomore season. Throughout her career, she has tallied 40 goals and 26 assists. Last season, Outwater led the AHA in conference scoring. Her 40 total points ranked third in the conference and tied for 27th nationally. She capped her season by earning All-AHA First Team honors. These stats have earned her the Atlantic Hockey America Preseason Player of the Year award and a spot on the Preseason All-Conference Team.

Stonehouse, a junior forward, has tallied 23 goals and 15 assists throughout her career. In her sophomore season, she recorded 14 goals and 10 assists with a +28 plus/minus. In 2023, Stonehouse represented Canada at the IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship.

Hall, a junior forward, has tallied 18 goals and 14 assists over the course of her career. Last season, Hall recorded 11 goals and 10 assists in 33 games. Internationally, Hall has represented Sweden at various levels, but most recently made her Olympic debut at the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Games and the Four Nations Tournament at the end of August.

Penn State women’s hockey starts off its regular season on September 24 against Ohio State. Puck drop is at 6 p.m. at Pegula Ice Arena.
