The Paterno Family Football Experience Room, a permanent museum experience celebrating more than a century of Penn State Football history, opened in the Penn State All-Sports Museum on Thursday.

The exhibit displays a replica of the late Joe Paterno’s coach’s office, the university’s most recent tribute to the former Penn State head coach since he was fired in 2011 amidst the Jerry Sandusky scandal.

Paterno won 409 games over the course of his career at Penn State, the most by any coach in NCAA history

Paterno’s replica office includes furniture and memorabilia, including his original office desk and personal artifacts from his office at the Lasch Football Building.

This curated timeline documents significant moments from his more than six decades at Penn State. The display is part of a larger new exhibit meant to recognize the history of Penn State football.

In addition to Paterno’s replicated office space, the experience room includes interactive football history, trophies and honors, and recognitions for players, coaches, and captains.

The interactive football history section contains digital displays featuring program milestones, landmark victories, interviews, and more.

Penn State bowl trophies, national awards, All-America recognition, and other individual awards, including the Heisman Trophy, are also on display.

The Paterno Family Football Experience Room is officially open to the public. Public hours will be on Friday, September 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Sunday, September 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Additional hours that align with Penn State All-Sports Museum’s regular schedule will be announced at a later date. Admission to the Penn State All-Sports Museum is by suggested donation of $8 for adults and $5 for children, seniors, and students.
