An Open Letter To Allstate: There Is No Way She Had Service At Beaver Stadium

Dear Allstate,
As I was watching the Penn State game against Temple, there was only one thing that caught my eye more than the game itself: the new Allstate “Check First” commercial.
The commercial features a Penn State fan who calls out of work sick so she can spend the day doing what any reasonable Nittany Lion fan would rather be doing — going to the White Out game.
But her plan falls apart when her boss spots her social media posts from the game and later calls her while she’s in the stadium.
I wrote that correctly.
She made a post and answered a phone call all while inside Beaver Stadium?
Anyone who has attended a Penn State football game knows that Beaver Stadium’s cell service is basically useless. Texts don’t send. Calls don’t go through. Snapchat doesn’t load. Instagram Stories sit there loading. Your group chat would genuinely be better off communicating through carrier pigeons.
And yet, this woman somehow manages to make an Instagram post and answer a phone call.
I wasn’t the only one who noticed this nonsense. People even took the issue to X.
Forget the fact that she risked her job for a football game. She had service during a White Out in Beaver Stadium.
Anyone who has ever tried to send a “Where are you?” text within a 10-mile radius of the stadium knows that the text probably won’t deliver until after the game is over.
If the commercial was created with the lack of cell service in mind, that post probably would never have been uploaded in the first place. She probably never would have received that phone call. Her whole conundrum would never have happened.
A Penn State fan calling out of work to go to White Out is entirely believable.
A Penn State fan getting caught because she posted herself at the game is also believable.
But a Penn State fan successfully posting on Instagram and answering a phone call inside Beaver Stadium during the White Out?
Totally unbelievable.
Next time, Allstate, check first.
