Penn State Wrestling To Compete At Journeyman Collegiate Duals, Face Duke On December 20

As we get closer to wrestling season, new opponents for Penn State wrestling continue to be revealed.

The Nittany Lions will once again compete at the annual Journeyman Collegiate Duals in Binghamton, New York, on Sunday, December 20. One confirmed opponent for Penn State is the Duke Blue Devils, who published their 2026-27 schedule earlier this week.

It is the third consecutive year that Penn State competes at the Journeyman Collegiate Duals, a two-day event that features a variety of college wrestling teams across the country. In the prior two years, the Nittany Lions wrestled multiple opponents on the same day, defeating Binghamton, Little Rock, and Missouri in the 2024 edition before shutting out North Dakota State and Stanford in 2025.

The Nittany Lions will face the Blue Devils for the first time ever, with the only major meeting between the two programs coming at the 2006 Penn State Open, a folkstyle open tournament hosted in State College similar to the Black Knight Invitational every November.

Duke is coming off a rough season in the ACC, going just 6-14 in duals with a winless conference record, a last-place finish at the ACC Championships, and only picking up 1.5 team points at the NCAA Championships. All of those points were earned by heavyweight Connor Barket, who lost to Cole Mirasola in the first round before being eliminated in the second round of wrestlebacks.

Other schools that are confirmed to be competing in Binghamton include Oregon State, Northern Colorado (which will face Penn State in February), and Buffalo, but none are known to be wrestling the Nittany Lions at the event that has yet to be officially solidified.

As for the schedule at large, Duke is the 11th confirmed opponent in Penn State’s dual meet schedule. The Nittany Lions will travel to Lehigh in December and host Northern Colorado in February, while the dates for their eight confirmed Big Ten opponents are to be determined. There is no set date for a full schedule reveal.
