Penn State football offensive lineman Will Tompkins will miss the rest of the season, Matt Campbell announced Wednesday during post-practice media availability.

Campbell said that Tompkins suffered a “unique” injury during pre-game warmups against Buffalo.

The 6-foot-5, 311-pound redshirt freshman spent one season at Iowa State before transferring to Happy Valley

The former three-star recruit was listed as the No. 57 player at his position in the class of 2025 and the No. 7 player from Iowa, according to 247Sports composite rankings.

Tompkins was the second injury discussed during Campbell’s media availability after wide receiver Koby Howard’s. The breakout star for the Nittany Lions is expected to be out for an “extended period of time.”

Howard, who was injured during his 70-yard touchdown against Buffalo on Saturday, is not expected to miss the entire season.

The sophomore wideout amassed 344 yards and two touchdowns just through Penn State’s three non-conference games. He also rushed for 22 yards and a touchdown.
