Penn State Football Wide Receiver Koby Howard ‘Still A Couple Weeks Away’ From Return

Penn State football wide receiver Koby Howard will miss the White Out, according to Matt Campbell.
Howard was “dinged up” on a touchdown against Buffalo in Week 3, but was later ruled out for an “extended period of time” before the Nittany Lions took on Wisconsin.
Despite folks’ call for Howard to return to help Penn State in the annual White Out against No. 19 USC on Saturday, it seems the Nittany Lion faithful will have to wait a few more weeks.
“[Howard’s] doing really good, but you’re still a couple weeks from him being back,” Campbell said at his media availability Tuesday.
The sophomore wideout recorded 344 yards and two touchdowns through Penn State’s three non-conference games. He also rushed for 22 yards and a touchdown.
In Howard’s absence, the Nittany Lions have fallen to both Wisconsin and Northwestern in embarrassing fashion, partly due to a sputtering offense.
The last two games have marked quarterback Rocco Becht’s worst of his career.
Against Wisconsin, the Iowa State transfer was 12-of-29 through the air for 114 yards and an interception. Against Northwestern, he was 26-of-42 for 243 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions.
Altogether, the team has recorded just 357 yards through the air since Howard went down with the injury. Chase Sowell has accounted for 138 of those.
While Campbell has not provided a specific timetable for Howard’s return, the wide receiver revealed a potential return date on his Instagram story after his injury was announced.
The post featured a bacta tank, “a system used for healing and treating major injuries” in the Star Wars universe, and text that read “Me and God back soon” and “10/17/26.”
Former Penn State standout edge rusher Abdul Carter posted a similar image leading up to the 2025 Orange Bowl against Notre Dame, and he recorded five tackles and a sack.
