We Wish You A Stately Christmas: The Ultimate Guide To A Penn State Holiday

It’s officially the most wonderful time of the year, Penn Staters!
Now, while you might be juggling the stress of finals week and navigating back home in the unbearably unpredictable State College weather, we created an easy guide to Penn State activities, gifts, and decorations to enjoy before you go home.
Before You Leave
Head up to the annual Winter’s Glow event at the Arboretum and Palmer Museum of Art on December 13 from 4 to 8 p.m.! Check out the garden as it transforms into beautiful winter light displays, with live entertainment, local vendors, and holiday crafts. Public parking is free in the Katz Lot for the event. The gardens will remain open until 9 p.m. starting December 8 until early January.
If you’re looking to take a break from studying, Nittany Ballet will be performing “The Nutcracker” at 7 p.m. on December 13 and at 2 p.m. on December 14. Adult tickets cost $40, seniors who are 55 and up are $34, and students and youth are $29. Buy tickets here.
Gifts… We Got You.
If you are a last-minute gift-buyer, you’re in luck! Penn State has many shops downtown carrying a variety of holiday gifts, and if you’re too busy to make it downtown, there are many websites to purchase all of your holiday needs for friends and family.
Finding gifts for the family is a cake walk in Happy Valley. Moms love anything that lets them show off where their kid goes to school. A Penn State Mom sweatshirt, a Penn State mug, or a cozy PSU blanket is always a hit. If James Franklin’s termination wasn’t enough of a gift for your dad, try some PSU slippers, a Penn State golf gift set, or even a Nittany Lions Decanter Set. For the siblings out there, Appalachian Outdoors carries a Happy Camp3r x Happy Valley Sweat Set, and for the winter season, a Gavin McKenna jersey from Family Clothesline.
Deck the Halls
Too busy studying that you forgot to decorate? Have parents given up on decorating now that the kids are out of the house? It’s not too late to give your place a Penn State vibe.
Alongside all of the ornaments available, there are so many more ways to deck your halls this season. For some handmade decor, Etsy carries Penn State Christmas Pillows, a Penn State Santa, and even some Penn State stockings.
So before you pack your bags, rush through your last few finals, and pray that your car starts in the cold, take a moment and enjoy the holiday spirit around campus. Whether you’re buying last-minute gifts or finally decorating, Happy Valley has you covered. Stay cozy, stay sane, and have a very Stately Christmas. You’ve earned it.
