Weekend Winning for Women’s Volleyball

The No. 9 Penn State women's volleyball team recorded weekend sweeps over Wisconsin and No. 10 Minnesota at Rec Hall. With these two victories, the Nittany Lions improved their overall record to 10-4 and their Big Ten record to 3-1.

The Nittany Lions were nowhere near perfect over the weekend. Several times they looked susceptible to big runs which kept Wisconsin in the match; however, they have won nine consecutive sets. Dropping early sets, which was a problem earlier in the year, has been corrected for the moment.

What’s Next for Women’s Volleyball?

The Penn State Women's Volleyball team dropped its Big Ten opener last night at No. 10 Nebraska. Attempting to recover after digging an early 0-2 hole, the fifth ranked Nittany Lions fell just short of pulling off their second five set, comeback victory in a month.

Unlike the memorable USC match, played at Rec Hall on August 27, fifth set magic would elude the Nittany Lions as the Cornhuskers hung on for the win.

Special Teams Not So Special

Poor special teams play has hurt Penn State in the past. Could it happen again?

Women’s Volleyball Coming Home

For the first time in two weeks, a Friday night at Penn State will not feature a pep rally of any sort for the football team. Beaver Stadium may be empty, but Rec Hall will not be as Penn State Women's Volleyball hosts Long Island, Rutgers, and Florida Gulf Coast in the Hampton Inn Classic.

Philly Happenings for Temple Weekend

Penn State students making the trip from State College to Philadelphia for Saturday's noon football clash against Temple at Lincoln Financial Field will have plenty of entertainment options around the city before and after the game.

McGloin Losing Battles On and Off the Field

Matt McGloin may have been Penn State's most valuable player during the 2010 football season. But between the end of last season and now, he may have also become the most disliked amongst the fanbase.
