Every year, Penn State awards students who have managed to achieve the highest levels of academic excellence, leadership, and service to the community at the undergraduate and graduate level. There are 27 outstanding students who have been awarded accolades this year.
More specifics about the awards can be found after the jump.
As a student, you know one thing for a fact: You are poor. There could be many things that tipped you off. Most of your dietary intake comes from eating Ramen noodles, Taco Bell, or McDonalds. You have to choose between buying beer or doing laundry (enough Febreze would make anything smell nicer!). Sadly, not only do you not have any Febreze left, but you don't even have money to buy beer, so you are stuck in your apartment, hungry, sober, and in smelly clothes. Shit.
In order to solve this dilemma, visit this website at 7 pm tomorrow. The Wall Street Journal on Campus and unigo.com have teamed up to bring to us a live webcast titled "Paying for College: What You Need to Know". Senior director of Penn State's Office of Student Aid Melissa Kunes will sit on the panel of experts who will answer tough questions like "how do I take advantage of new student government aid programs?", "what are 529 plans, Stafford loans, Pell Grants, and PLUS loans?" and "is Schrodinger's cat in or out of the box?".

The rhythm extravaganza that is STOMP graced Eisenhower Auditorium on both Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Compared to all the other forms of art I have seen, I must admit that this was the most avant-garde and MOST AWESOME! Using non-conventional instruments, the performers created complex beats and rhythms, and the entire act left the audience slack jawed and wide eyed.
To observe as performers brought forth rhythm out of nothing was a stunning display of, talent. Using newspapers, coughs, and more, the members of the STOMP team created one of the funniest pieces of the evening. They threw everything into their performance, including the kitchen sink. For the most part, however, they appeared to use brooms as they "cleaned" the stage of Eisenhower using stomps, taps, and beats from the brooms (OPP take note!).
The STOMP members also used a call and response with the audience, which solidified that the people on stage did, in fact, have more rhythm than a mostly sold out Eisenhower Auditorium. The fact that the STOMP performers put on such an incredible show while including the audience made this possibly the best act I have seen at Penn State.
Too bad the guy on my right slept through the whole thing.
After two stunning weeks of campaigning, the results are in, and Christan Ragland will be the president of the Fifth Assembly of the University Park Undergraduate Association.
Read on for statements from both candidates.
Until recently, CCSG leadership was unsure if they had impeached their president.
Only a few days ago, we reported that Nick Borsuk was impeached from CCSG. However, this appears to not be the case! So rest easy ye Borsuk faithful as I bring you the entire tale.
Votes were initially tallied at 26-6. However, the actual vote was 20-6 with 6 abstentions. The CCSG's parliamentary rules state that in order for abstentions to count in a vote, the two-thirds majority (22 in this case) most be received by votes either for or against the resolution; until it is reached, abstentions do not count. Weird, we know.
Simply stated, Nick Borsuk was never impeached.
In case you haven't heard, UPUA is holding its presidential elections this week. Debates were held last week between the two presidential candidates, Ragland and Adewumi, which UPUA taped and posted to Youtube. This is a far cry from last year, when the debates were streamed live. This change is actually quite beneficial, as now interested voters may watch the debates at their leisure to learn more about the candidates and their platforms.
