10 Questions with UPUA VP Katelyn Mullen

One of the unsung heroes of any organization is the vice president, often overshadowed by his or her running mate upon election to office. Penn State's student government is no different, with the vice president routinely taking on the brunt of the executive work as delegated by the president. The current stalwart holding that position is UPUA Vice President Katelyn Mullen. I got a chance to catch up with Katelyn and discuss her role in student government, her cameo on an MTV reality show, and all things veep-related.

Penn State Football Attendance Ranks Fifth

The 2012 Penn State football season endured a lot of changes from programs of the past: new coaches, new uniforms, new plays. But at least one thing remained the same -- a passionate fan base packing Beaver Stadium every Saturday. According to a release, Penn State ranked 5th in attendance last year of all NCAA teams, with an average of 96,730 fans per game.

Penn State Slides to No. 13 on Nation’s Most Valuable College Football Programs List

Penn State once again made Forbes list of the most valuable college football programs in the country, coming in at number 13. This number is 10 lower than the previous year's 3rd place ranking, which should come as little surprise given the situation the football team faced last year.

New Bar Opens on Beaver Ave Above the Phyrst

A new drinking establishment opened up on Beaver Ave. Tuesday, giving the Phyrst a classier and more conspicuous counterpart. The bar has not officially been named yet, but the waitstaff said that it will likely be called "The Clover", sticking with the Phyrst's Irish theme.

75 Bags of Heroin Seized at Imperial 400 Motel

And so it was yesterday afternoon, the Centre County Drug Task Force obtained a search warrant and came knocking at Room 202 of the Imperial 400 Motel along with agents from the Attorney General's Office. In the room, they found 75 bags of heroin with a street value of $1875.00, approximately 12 grams of synthetic marijuana with a street value of $200.00, cell phones, and $915.00 in cash.

President Erickson Gets a Pay Raise

The Board of Trustees have approved an $85,000 pay raise -- from $515,000 to $600,000 per year -- for President Rodney Erickson, which went into effect on November 1.
