In January, Eberly Dean Daniel Larson will be leaving Happy Valley in order to pursue a job in an Ecuador University. He will become the head chancellor at Ecuador's first research university, Yachay University. The university hopes to become a leader in global research with basic and applied science.
Penn State is the home to a vast array of well-known landmarks. There's Beaver Stadium, the Lion Shrine, Old Main, and of course the longest continuously running nuclear university reactor in the United States. Well, maybe that last one isn't on par with the other campus landmarks, but when your university is the home of a Nuclear Historic Landmark, you should probably take notice and appreciate it.

Christian Marrone, who played for Joe Paterno and now serves as the Chief of Staff for the Department of Homeland Security, will speak at the IST Building on Wednesday. Marrone, who holds a degree in Political Science from Penn State, has held numerous posts within the government and in the private sector. Before jumping to the Department of Homeland Security, Marrone was the Vice President for National Security and Acquisition Policy at the Aerospace Industries Association.
