As an on-campus student, I find myself eating at dining halls more often than not. One thing I hear fellow students complain about is the lack of healthy food options in the dining halls. However, as a frequent patron of the commons, I disagree. The problem isn't that the commons don't serve healthy food, it’s that students tend to make unhealthy choices. As a student who has avoided the dreaded freshman 15 in my first year, here are my tips to eating healthy on-campus.
The day after Dayglow's first concert in State College, I saw a girl in class the next morning who still had the neon paint on her shoes. I asked her how she liked the event. “It was fun,” she replied, “if you wanted to get raped.” She was a little too serious, but we both laughed. Greeks are always babbling on about how awesome it is to be affiliated no matter what time of year it is, but this week is Greek Week here in Happy Valley, which means you're going to be seeing even more letters than usual. But that's not the only tell-tale sign.

The world is full of patterns. As engineering students, we are expected to be able to see these patterns and investigate accordingly. But maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to break our own daily patterns once in a while and learn something interesting (that we won't be tested on) while we're at it.
