Barron confirmed that if the budget passes in its current form he would recommend to the Board of Trustees at its meetings on July 19-20 freezing tuition for Pennsylvania resident students for the upcoming year.
The budget is pretty standard, besides allocating about $8,000 less to the Blue & White Brigade, a free student bus to a select away football game.
Different from previous years, there will be four acts -- Logic, Daya, Judah & The Lion, and SPA-sponsored act Mick Jenkins -- alongside the Battle of the Bands winner, down one from the traditional five and the student act.
The new statement says Penn State received news from Harrisburg today that the budget impasse continues, "as elected leaders continue to fail to come to an agreement on the fiscal plan."
"This funding may be in jeopardy and we need your help," Barron wrote, saying that Pennsylvania residents should "contact their state legislator to encourage them to finish the state budget and fund Penn State."
Some legislators have already cited higher education funding cuts as a possible avenue to balancing the budget.
