Weekend Sports Recap: Seven Teams Pick Up Victories This Weekend

It was another eventful weekend for Penn State sports as thirteen teams were in action, with seven picking up victories at one point or another this weekend.

Putting an End to the “Sorority Houses are Brothels” Rumor

I'd like to set the record straight once and for all and tell you that there is no ancient Pennsylvania law that equates a certain number of unrelated women living together as a brothel. Records prove there was never a law set forth by the borough of State College or the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania restricting a large group of women from renting or owning a residence. In the borough's zoning laws, there is no distinction between sorority and fraternity houses.

Men’s Basketball Falls to Wisconsin 71-66

Unfortunately for Penn State basketball fans, Pat Chambers and co. weren't able to pull its second-straight upset of a top-25 ranked team, as the team fell to No. 14 Wisconsin, 71-66. With the loss, the Nittany Lions fell to 14-15 (5-11 B1G) on the year.

Head Coach Coquese Washington described the moment like "watching her kids open presents on Christmas morning." However you want to call it, one thing so for sure -- the Lady Lions 77-62 victory over Michigan last night was good enough to clinch the program's third straight Big Ten Championship.

Early Reports Show Crime Numbers Down on State Patty’s Day

The initial State College Police crime numbers are in, and it looks like the drinking holiday might be losing its luster. Through 8 a.m. this morning, police are reporting a 45 percent drop in crime. Only 20 arrests were made all day Friday and into Saturday.
