In anticipation of what is sure to be a hostile environment at Kinnick Stadium tonight when the Iowa Hawkeyes (4-2, 2-0) host the Penn State Nittany Lions (4-2, 2-0), University of Iowa Student Government (UISG) sent a mass email to all Iowa students Friday afternoon encouraging good sportsmanship and no booing when the Nittany Lions take the field. UISG president Nichols Pottebaum talked to us to explain the reasoning and timing behind the email.

Guy Gadowsky, the head of the Penn State Nittany Lions Division 1 hockey team, wants his team to know that goals, statistics, and saves -- in other words, the stat sheet -- is not what's most important to him. Instead, Gadowsky believes that hard work is what makes a good hockey team, and he is using a symbolic gesture in the form of a hard hat to pass that message on to his players.

The date was October 9, 1999 and most current members of the Penn State Football team were in their early years of elementary school when the Nittany Lions (4-2, 2-0) last defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes (4-2, 2-0) in Kinnick Stadium. While these players have only made one or two visits, they remember it well-- the screaming fans, the cold weather, and ultimately, the disappointing end result. Tomorrow night, they will try to change that.

Three years ago, Students Organizing the Multiple Arts (SOMA) gathered a group of musicians to play on campus bus routes. Named after the Keyboard Cat viral video, The Keyboard Catas, however, jump on the Blue and White loops with guitars and drums to some play music. This year, they played "Jumper" by Third Eye Blind, "Seven Nation Army" by The White Stripes, and "Home" by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. Their goal is to get people to join in and hopefully spread some cheer to people's bus rides.

If you're looking for something to do this weekend while many Penn Staters are away canning, the men’s water polo team will be hosting the conference championship in Happy Valley.
