Full disclosure: I love the Bachelor and Bachelorette. Season after season, I love watching the train wreck that is television dating unfold before my eyes. I was already looking forward to the premiere of season 10 before I saw the news: Will Barry, formerly the keyboardist/singer of Go Go Gadget, will appear on the next season of the Bachelorette, according to the International Business Times.
THON may be over, but the opportunity to make a difference is still here. We compiled a list of on campus philanthropies that students can get involved in year round.
If you attended Family Hour at THON 2014, you probably remember the Eli Sidler Family. When Eli was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma in September of 2004, his father Bret gave him the nickname "Chemowarrior". The nickname was meant to act as a badge of honor for all that he was going through and the moniker has really taken on a story of its own in the years since.
If you were at THON this weekend, you definitely noticed "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)" by the Backstreet Boys starting off the line dance. Well, way before most undergrads were even teenagers, the Backstreet Boys performed at the BJC as a part of their "Into the Millennium Tour" two nights in a row, on February 11 and 12, 2000. The concerts were filmed and lucky for us, someone put them on YouTube.
Distraction of the Day: Penn Staters studying abroad in Florence, Italy showed their support of THON in a special way.
ABC World News with Diane Sawyer was at THON filming all weekend. Tonight on the 'America Strong' segment from 6:30-7:00 p.m., they'll be unveiling the coverage for a national audience. They spent the weekend following one of the Four Diamonds families and shot some wonderful footage of the event throughout.
