Where To Get Your Flu Shot In State College

While you’re out enjoying the picturesque fall scenes all over campus, be wary; the leaves changing can only mean one thing: It’s officially flu season.

Don’t fret, though, because plenty of places offer affordable flu shots in the State College area:

University Health Services

Both convenient and affordable, UHS offers a flu vaccine clinic in Alumni Hall for $25.  Make an appointment online for October 16, October 24, or November 2 and bring your student ID and insurance card to the HUB.  As a HUB flu-shot veteran, my wait time was about 10 minutes, and the shot itself was relatively painless.

Wegmans

Although not directly within walking distance of campus, Wegmans is a great walk-in option to get yourself vaccinated.  The wait time for me was nonexistent, and the staff was very friendly.  Depending on your insurance, this option has the potential to have a $0 co-pay, which is always a plus.

CVS

Done through its pharmacy, the CVS on West College runs flu vaccinations every day.  When the pharmacy is open (9 a.m. – 8 p.m. M-F, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. S-S), it’s possible to get a flu shot through March.

Walmart

Both Walmarts in State College (Atherton and Benner Pike) offer the influenza vaccination in their pharmacy.  Again, depending on your insurance, your co-pay could be $0, making this another affordable option for everyone.

Urgent Care

MedExpress definitely isn’t my favorite place to hang out, however, if every other option for vaccinating yourself falls through, I’m sure they would do a fine job.  An Uber ride away on Atherton, you can at least console yourself with Panera after having to wait 40 minutes for your shot.
