THON is officially launching DonorDrive — a new program that will likely permanently change how volunteers raise funds #FTK — for this fundraising season. The program is a peer-to-peer fundraising website that will expand fundraising nationally as well make the experience more personal for the donor.

“By definition, peer-to-peer fundraising is a method of fundraising that empowers every individual volunteer to tell their story and experience with THON,” Volunteer Safety Director Tim Miller said. “And because it is more personal than a general donation page, [DonorDrive] creates a more compelling call-to-action to every volunteer’s friends, family, and social networks.”

Through DonorDrive, volunteers can craft a page that shares their unique THON story, personalizing the experience for the both the fundraiser and the donor. DonorDrive has the potential to increase contributions by as much as four times the amount traditional fundraising pages typically raise.

The new system will make donating as easy and as quick as possible. Each page is optimized for mobile viewing, and they link to various social media platforms for instant sharing. By using this online system, it will be simpler than ever for fundraisers to reach family, friends, and alumni from all corners of the country and beyond.

“When we look back on this year five years from now, I anticipate seeing an entirely different fundraising strategy across all of THON because of DonorDrive,” Miller said.

This new program certainly encourages volunteers to fundraise at their best and will help to further THON’s mission. It also aims to bring the community together for one cause, as well as remind donors why every single contribution is important.

“Everything we do is for the kids, and that’s what inspires people to support THON with their contribution,” Miller said. “If every THON volunteer takes the time to tell their story, THON’s mission will spread nationwide and everyone’s fight to end childhood cancer will help us one day dance in celebration of a cure.”

DonorDrive is launching just in time for #GivingTuesday, a global day of online donating that happens each year on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. #GivingTuesday is a huge fundraising day for many non-profits and THON can expect to reap the benefits of the new program in just a few short weeks.
