‘Choke On Your Money’: Penn Staters To Boycott Herlocher’s Foods After Family Forces The Skeller To Close

Update 12:25 p.m. Tues., December 5: Despite removing Facebook reviews, Amazon reviews are still up and running for Herlocher’s Dipping Mustard, and Skeller supporters have started to migrate there, as well. So far, the mustard has nine “critical reviews.”

Update 11:35 a.m. Tues., December 5: Herlocher’s Dipping Mustard has removed its Facebook reviews section.

Update 10:30 a.m. Tues., December 5: As of 10:30 Tuesday morning, the Herlocher’s Dipping Mustard Facebook page has a total of 858 one-star ratings.

Update 11:55 p.m.: The Herlocher’s Dipping Mustard Facebook page now has an average 1.2 star review, with a total of 585 one-star ratings, nearly all of which were added Monday night after The Skeller announced its impending closure.

Original story: Owners of The All-American Rathskeller announced late Monday afternoon the legendary bar and its adjacent restaurant, Spats Café, will close because owners of the building decided not to renew their lease.

Chuck and Neil Herlocher — yes, those Herlochers — bought the property in June, and told Center County Gazette at the time, “Business there will continue as usual.”

This is certainly not “as usual” and Penn Staters are acutely aware of it, so much that they’ve started a movement to boycott Herlocher’s Foods, starting with the company’s reviews on Facebook and Amazon.

At time of publication Monday night, the company had racked up more than 150 one-star reviews. See for yourself:
