Mike Watkins Ruled Out For Big Ten Tournament

Coach Pat Chambers announced that Mike Watkins will miss the Big Ten Tournament. The 6-9 forward missed the final game of the regular season against Nebraska after injuring his right leg against Michgan the game before.

Watkins suffered the injury while launching himself into a jump, not on the actual contact with the opposing player, according to Chambers. Chambers also said that surgery was not needed for the injury right now.

Watkins is currently averaging 12.1 points and 8.9 rebounds on the season. Watkins is shooting 68.5 percent from the field to lead the Big Ten. He is also fourth in the Big Ten with 2.3 blocked shots per game. He was named to the All-Big Ten Defensive Team earlier this week.

Penn State takes on Northwestern on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. to finish the regular season. The game will broadcast on BTN.
