The Official Penn State-Maryland Drinking Game

Away games are back, baby, and per usual, Penn State football is bound to leave you stressed out. Thankfully, there’s alcohol to calm the nerves.

No. 12 Penn State travels to College Park this weekend for a Friday night game under the lights to play the Maryland Terrapins. After hitting the ground running with two beatdowns against Howard and Syracuse, the Terrapins suffered a disappointing 20-17 loss on the road against Temple before heading into their bye week.

While Franklin’s team is holding onto an undefeated 3-0 record, Penn State’s fate against Maryland is a bit uncertain. Here’s a guide to help you out in case things end up not going our way.

  • Take a sip every time they mention Maryland students getting gettting out of school early in anticipation for this game.
  • Enjoy a nice, long sip every time they mention this being the Terrapin’s “game of the decade.”
  • Take a sip at every mention of Trace McSorley playing for Maryland’s own Baltimore Ravens now.
  • Take a sip every time the announcers mention Old Bay seasoning
  • The deep ball is back, baby … or is it? Take a loooooong chug if Sean Clifford finds a pair of hands down the field to land a pass. Finish your drink if it’s dropped.
  • Finish your drink and hold your breath every time Ricky Slade gets the ball.
  • Take a sip every time they pan the “blacked out” crowd.
  • Finish your drink at any reference to “Friday Night Lights.”
  • Take a sip for any mention of the infamous 2014 game when Maryland players refused to shake hands with Penn State’s captains before the coin toss. Chug if they show the footage.
  • Finish your drink if Penn State doesn’t screw this up. Take a shot (or two) if not
  • Actually, if Penn State loses … just keep drinking.

Enjoy Friday night football and drink within your limits Staters!
