Gameday Coverage: No. 6 Penn State vs. Villanova

We’ve got an in-state battle brewing in Happy Valley.

No. 6 Penn State football is set to take on Radnor Township’s own Villanova at Beaver Stadium. The Wildcats, a top-10 team in the FCS, is undefeated after beating Lehigh, Bucknell, and Richmond. The Nittany Lions surged higher in the AP Poll after fending off SEC foe Auburn in the White Out game.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of kickoff.

Television

The game will get underway at noon on the Big Ten Network. Mark Followill and Penn State’s own Matt Millen will be on the call. Elise Menaker will provide additional reporting from the sideline.

Radio

Penn State Sports Network — Steve Jones, Jack Ham, and Brian Tripp
Local: 99.5 & 103.7 FM/1450 AM, Sirius/XM/Internet: 136/83/965

Weather

Accuweather says it will be around 65 degrees at kickoff with temperatures kissing the low 70s throughout the game. There’s no rain in the forecast and the wind won’t get above 9 mph. Expect 61% humidity and a dew point of 51 degrees.

Last Meeting

Penn State holds a 5-3-1 all-time record against Villanova dating back to 1902. The Wildcats actually have a three-game winning streak against the Nittany Lions, but the two teams haven’t met since 1951. VIllanova has never hosted Penn State.

Injuries/Suspensions

Since Penn State typically only reports season-ending injuries, we only know that defensive end Adisa Isaac will miss Saturday’s matchup. He sustained an injury over the offseason and likely won’t be healthy during the 2021 season.

Hakeem Beamon has been unavailable since the beginning of the season. Both Keaton Ellis and John Lovett returned to play against Auburn.

Regarding the coronavirus, we won’t know until kickoff if anyone has tested positive.

Betting Lines

Penn State is a 30.5-point favorite against Villanova, according to Oddsshark. The points total is set at 54.5 and the under hit last week. The Nittany Lions are undefeated against the spread.
