Penn State’s Latest Bowl Projections Heavily Leaning Toward Citrus Bowl

Penn State is coming off a resounding 55-10 victory against Rutgers on Saturday, bringing the Nittany Lions to 9-2 heading into the final game of the season with a lot on the line. If the Nittany Lions take care of business in a convincing way against Michigan State, they could still make their case for a New Year’s Six bowl berth. So, they will certainly have something to still play for.

Ahead of Penn State’s final regular season game, here’s where analysts project the Nittany Lions to go during bowl season:

The majority of projections remain the same from the past weeks. CBS Sports, ESPN, Bleacher Report, 247Sports, and Yahoo Sports all have the Nittany Lions heading to Orlando for the Citrus Bowl. All but Yahoo Sports predicts Penn State to square off against Ole Miss in the usual Big Ten-SEC matchup. Yahoo Sports anticipates LSU to be the opponent on January 2.

Ole Miss dropped to 8-3 overall and 4-3 in the conference after a loss to Arkansas last weekend. LSU is atop the SEC West with a 9-2 record and a 5-1 conference record. The Tigers are expected to face off with Georgia for the SEC Championship in Atlanta.

Sports Illustrated is the only one that has Penn State heading to a coveted New Year’s Six bowl, predicting the Nittany Lions facing off with ACC opponent Clemson in the Orange Bowl.

Clemson enters the final week of the regular season 10-1 and 8-0 in the conference. The Tigers will face North Carolina for the ACC title in two weeks.

The Nittany Lions will need to take care of business and defeat Michigan State this Saturday, November 26, and hope some teams ahead of them in the rankings stumble in the final week if it wants to chase the dream of landing in a New Year’s Six bowl.
