Power Ranking The Nittany Lion’s 2022 Football Season Outfits

Wake up babe, the Nittany Lion is wearing clothes again.

We’re longtime fans of the Nittany Lion’s funky getups, but this year’s style lineup was truly something special. From Nittany Lion classics to musical sensation look-a-likes, the Symbol of Our Best didn’t miss once this season.

Without further ado, we present Onward State’s official rankings of the Nittany Lion’s 2022 football season ‘fits.

6. White Out Garb

With so much happening at this year’s White Out game against Minnesota, this outfit got a bit lost in the sauce. Wearing an elegant shawl and some sparkly bling, the Lion certainly still stands out, but it isn’t as detailed as some of his other ‘fits. This one feels like it was thrown together at the last minute, but he still looks better than everyone else.

5. Classic Military ‘Fit

I have one word: bootylicious. Year after year, this ‘fit has me drooling. These fatigues were definitely made for the Nittany Lion. The only reason this getup doesn’t have a higher ranking is that it’s a repeat outfit. Regardless, he looks hot.

4. Mario

It’s-a me, the Nittany Lion!

This one was fun. Usually, when the Lion role-plays, he sticks to more “real-life” characters like Ferris Bueller or Bob Ross, so stepping out as Mario from Super Mario Bros. was definitely unexpected. On the other hand, it did feel a bit random. Also, he gets a few points deducted for neglecting to iron his costume before stepping out in front of 107,000 people.

3. Prince

What can I say? I’m a sucker for a Nittany Lion musical act. This ‘fit and performance reminded me of last season’s Ferris Bueller getup, which took the No. 1 spot in 2021. Bonus points for keeping the wig intact in the pouring rain, too.

2. Cupid

The Symbol of Our Best brought out his soft side with this one. The outfit is cute, but what really blew me away was his performance of the “Cupid Shuffle.” Do your dance, Nittany Lion. I can only dream of being the lucky fan that gets shot by the Nittany Lion’s arrow. Sigh.

1. Pitbull

I mean, come on. He ate this up and spit it out, then ate it again. The bald cap is a hilarious move, and there’s no denying that the Nittany Lion looks mighty fine in his suit. Is it hot in here? He looks better than Mr. Worldwide himself.

If you’re the Nittany Lion’s stylist, give yourself a round of applause. His looks just keep getting better with each passing year. I can only wonder what ‘fits he’ll pull off next year. Maybe…Harry Styles?
