Power Ranking THON 2024 Line Dance Lyrics

Penn State is officially dancing at THON 2024, and the dancers have now learned the line dance, which is a stretch break done every hour featuring lyrics to sum up the past year.

After hitting the stage, the Dancer Relations captains immediately got into it, bringing lyrics about events from Penn State, pop culture, world events, and more.

Here are our top 10 lyrics heard during this year’s line dance. Which one is your favorite?

No. 10: Everyday our mission calls // Taking THON beyond these walls

The mission of THON is clear, and it’s all For The Kids. That mission is engrained in the dancers’ heads for 46 hours. THON has reached an all-time high in donations in the past two years, and it is trying to make it a third straight year in 2024. THON reaches far past the walls of the Bryce Jordan Center and has become a worldwide philanthropy. The line dance lets that mission be heard.

No. 9: Yonce’, Taylor global tours // Shoots his shot, Kelce scores

Over the past year, Beyonce and Taylor Swift went on global tours, and their fans were all over it. The two of them, Swift especially, absolutely took over the music world. Swift also found the love of her life in Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and after announcing they were dating, the two became a power couple. He really does score on and off the field.

No. 8: Bring it on, blue and white // Stand united in the fight

This lyric opened the line dance, and it did so in a very strong way. Telling the dancers to “bring it on” as soon as the stretch got underway was a power move, and it certainly got them excited. They were then reminded what they were standing for 46 hours for: “the fight.” These dancers are all coming together for a common cause and standing united to take down childhood cancer.

No. 7: Waffle Shop, burning hot // Sinkhole ate my parking spot

What a year it was on the campus of Penn State. On October 10, 2023, a fire damaged one of Penn State’s favorite downtown food spots: the Waffle Shop. It was a scary moment for many, but luckily, it survived the damage and reopened not long after. Less than two months before the short-lived blaze, the Eisenhower parking deck had to be evacuated due to a sinkhole, which is still being repaired today. Penn State was damaged, but it is still standing strong.

No. 6: Roman Empire, what’s your pick? // It’s the season of the sticks

The TikTok trend of asking folks what their Roman Empire, or what they think about often, is, went viral throughout September and October of 2023. It became more than a social media question, as people began implementing it into their daily speech. Something else that was trending on TikTok in 2023 was Noah Kahan’s song, “Stick Season.” The song and album made waves on social media and brought Kahan’s fandom to a new level.

No. 5: OG Fortnite, hop on! // Barbenheimer marathon

Popular video game Fortnite brought back its original features and sent gamers into a frenzy in November. Many old Fortnite players, including tons of Penn Staters, connected with friends, old and new, and got back on the game. The entertainment world was also taken over by the movies “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer,” both of which came out on July 21, 2023, and folks went on a marathon to see the two films. They combined these names to create “Barbenheimer.”

No. 4: New field honors Char’s attack // Basketball brings Madness back

It really was an amazing year for Penn State Athletics, and this lyric displays that. Penn State field hockey head coach Char Morrett-Curtiss announced her retirement last year, and the university dedicated the team’s field and entire complex to her to symbolize her mark on the program. A month after that, Penn State men’s basketball made an improbable run in the Big Ten and NCAA Tournaments and returned madness to Penn State.

No. 3: Big Ten redefining // Last commercial, silver lining

The fact that the Big Ten commercial as we know it will not be seen after this year can make almost any Penn State fan cry. With the expansion of the conference, it will no longer be the same, and that directly impacts Penn State, especially the football team. The commercial features the song “Silver Lining” by Guards, and it’s hard to believe it won’t be on TV after this year.

No. 2: Beaver squirrel, man he’s flyin’ // Say it with me, love ya lions!

This is the last line in the first verse, and it caps it off very well. The squirrel that scored a touchdown at Beaver Stadium took Penn State football fans by storm this past season, and it was only right for it to get a shoutout in the line dance. Plus, what’s better than showing some love to fellow Penn Staters at the end of the verse? “Love ya lions” is the perfect way to show your appreciation for everyone standing with you at THON.

No. 1: Starting each adventure strong // For The Kids, raise the song

The top lyric from the 2024 THON line dance is this one, and it’s perfect. The motto for this year’s THON is “Treasure Every Adventure,” but every adventure needs its beginning, which should be done in a strong way. “For The Kids” is the saying that sums up THON and everyone’s efforts so well, and it ties the whole line dance together. Despite this lyric coming in the introduction, it simply defines what THON is all about.
