Penn State Field Hockey Forward Sophia Gladieux Joins USWNT Paris Training Squad

Penn State field hockey star Sophia Gladieux will join the United States Women’s National Team’s (USWNT) Paris Centralized Training Squad ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Gladieux is one of four players added to the training team by USWNT head coach David Passmore.

The senior is a four-time All-American, four-time All-Big Ten honoree, two-time Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, Big Ten Player of the Year, and the reigning 2022-23 Penn State Female Athlete of the Year.

With 158 career points off 74 goals and 10 assists, Gladieux is set to join the USWNT in Charlotte, North Carolina, ahead of final Olympic team selections in mid-June. The final roster will feature 16 players and three interim players.

Based on her performances during the NCAA season and the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup, Gladieux was selected alongside Syracuse’s Charlotte de Vries, Cornell’s Caroline Ramsey, and Northwestern’s Lauren Wadas to round out the 28-athlete roster.

The Paris 2024 Olympics will run from Friday, June 26, until Sunday, August 11. The hockey tournaments will occur between Thursday, July 27, and Friday, August 9.
