15 Former Penn State Football Players Released By NFL Teams
Tuesday was a tough day for some former Penn State football players. As NFL teams announced their official 53-man roster, 15 Penn Staters were waived or released by their respective teams.
While some were undrafted free agents getting ready to make their debut, others leave behind some extensive experience.
To help you keep track of yesterday’s movements, we compiled a list of former Penn State players who will be without a roster spot this season.
Allen Robinson
Wide receiver Allen Robinson was released by the New York Giants ahead of his 11th year in the league. Robinson has also played for the Jaguars, Bears, Rams, and Steelers during his NFL career.
Sean Clifford
After backing up Jordan Love last year, quarterback Sean Clifford was released by the Green Bay Packers. Prior to Clifford’s release, the Packers traded for quarterback Malik Willis. Clifford made two appearances last year, completing one pass for 37 yards.
Trace McSorley
Another Penn State quarterback who failed to make a roster, Trace McSorley, was released by the Commanders ahead of the 2024 season. McSorley spent his first two years with Baltimore but appeared in six games with the Cardinals during the 2022 season.

After appearing in eight games for the Commanders last season, cornerback Tariq Castro-Fields was released prior to the 2024 season. Last year, Castro-Fields notched four total tackles.
Kalen King
Selected with the next to last pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Kalen King failed to attain a roster spot with the Packers for the upcoming season. During the NFL preseason, King forced a fumble and made six tackles.

After being drafted No. 219 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, cornerback Daequan Hardy was released by the Buffalo Bills after the preseason ended. During his preseason playing time, Hardy notched six tackles.
