Penn State Women’s Soccer Jumps To No. 8 In United Soccer Coaches Poll
Penn State women’s soccer had moved up to No. 8 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, the organization announced Tuesday. The Nittany Lions moved up four spots from their No. 12 ranking the week prior.
Penn State’s four-spot jump comes from a two-win week that pushed the Nittany Lions record to 4-1. The Nittany Lions started the week on Thursday, August 29, when they took on West Virginia. Kaitlyn MacBean, the TopDrawerSoccer National Player of the Week, shined in that match and scored a hattrick to secure the 3-1 victory.
On Sunday, Penn State traveled to No. 19 Saint Louis for its first away match of the year. MacBean was the start once again, scoring twice to help Penn State win 2-1.
Heading into the season the Nittany Lions were ranked No. 3, but a loss at Jeffery Field to No. 4 Virginia knocked them out of the top four in week two.
Penn State will continue its quest to return to the top at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, on the road against Princeton.
