Stephen Nedoroscik Places Third On Night One Of ‘Dancing With The Stars’

Pommel horse guy is back on our screens, folks!

2024 Olympic bronze medalist and Penn State alum Stephen Nedoroscik is competing in this season’s “Dancing with the Stars,” and after his first appearance on the multi-week show, placed third. Nedoroscik is the first male gymnast to appear on the show.

Nedoroscik is partnered with fan-favorite dancer Rylee Arnold, and the two have already gone viral on TikTok and earned the nickname “Arnold Pommel.”

While Nedoroscik has lots of gymnastics experience, shining for Penn State men’s gymnastics before becoming a fan-favorite at the Olympics, he isn’t a pro dancer and hopes to bring some of his pommel horse skills back on our screens.

“I want to bring some of that gymnastics, maybe a backflip or handstand,” Nedoroscik said when his casting was announced. “I want to have fun with it.”

In the premiere, Nedoroscik spoke about “being a nerd” and showed off his mastery of the Rubik’s cube.

“I’m really counting on my mathematical brain to help me remember these dance moves,” the gymnast said.

Nedoroscik and Arnold danced a jive to “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen, and Nedoroscik took off his glasses at the beginning of the dance, a sight seen before at the Olympics.

The dance featured a background of a Rubik’s cube and ended with Nedoroscik jumping over Arnold before doing a split and hitting their pose.

“That was so fun!” judge Carrie Ann Inaba said. “You are so entertaining and so light on your feet.”

Inaba and fellow judges Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli continued to praise Nedoroscik’s energy and skills before telling him to focus on the little details, such as pointing his toes.

“Arnold Pommel” earned all sevens from the three judges, totaling 21 points out of the 30 available. The score put the duo in a tie for third place with former bachelor and Montgomery County native Joey Graziadei and partner Jenna Johnson — a fitting spot for the bronze medalist.

Next week will be a double elimination, folks, so check back to see how Nedoroscik fares.
