Penn State Hoops Alum Lamar Stevens Signs With Detroit Pistons

Former Penn State men’s basketball forward Lamar Stevens has found a new home with the Detroit Pistons, according to Priority Sports. The details of Stevens’ contract with Detroit were not disclosed.

Stevens played for Penn State from 2016-20. During that time, he averaged 16.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. He was named to the All-Big Ten first team twice and was the NIT’s Most Outstanding Player in the Nittany Lions’ 2018 NIT Championship victory over Utah.

After that, Stevens entered the 2020 NBA Draft and went undrafted before the Cleveland Cavaliers signed him as a free agent. The forward played for three seasons before he was traded to the San Antonio Spurs in July but was released days later.

Last year, Stevens signed with the Boston Celtics and averaged 2.8 points and 1.6 rebounds in the 19 games he played. During last season’s trade deadline, he was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies and had the best season in his NBA career. He averaged 11.5 points and five rebounds in the 19 games he played with the Grizzlies.
