UHS Announces Enhancements To Student Health Center
University Health Services (UHS) has announced several new updates to its facilities and services to improve student’s health and well-being. UHS has upgraded and renovated its main lobby and physical therapy space while adding a lactation room and community health resources.
Students entering the Student Health Center (SHC) will be welcomed by a newly renovated lobby aimed at improving relaxation and comfort. The space features new seating, tables, check-in kiosks, and peer greeters.
The physical therapy space has been entirely renovated on the first floor of the SHC. The renovated space features modern equipment and an open layout with new gym flooring aimed at improving student recovery.
“We are thrilled with the recent renovations of the physical therapy suite at UHS,” Marc Lintal, director of physical therapy, said in a release. “The updated space will improve both our patients’ rehabilitation experience and allow our staff more flexibility in providing top-quality physical therapy care. We look forward to using this space to continue expanding the opportunities for our students.”
UHS also began offering a private and fully equipped lactation room available to students, faculty, and staff. The room is located in the community health hallway, room 201E, and provides a comfortable space with amenities such as a massage chair, breast pump, changing table, diapers, wipes, and a locked refrigerator for milk storage. Folks can reserve a time slot for the location room by emailing [email protected].
UHS is also introducing the Paw Pantry. This initiative is designed to support students experiencing food insecurity. Also located in the health hallway of the second floor of the SHC are essential items such as grab-and-go foods, toiletries, laundry necessities, and paper goods. The Paw Pantry arrived after the Lion’s Pantry closed its satellite locations around campus.
