Lion’s Pantry To Expand Main Location, Close Satellite Locations

The Penn State Lion’s Pantry will close its satellite locations and expand its primary location after a system review took place last week, the organization announced.

The 12 satellite locations, known as Cub Pantries, offered additional support for students in need and accounted for about 30% of the Lion’s Pantry budget in the 2023-24 fiscal year.

“What the success of the Cub Pantry showed us was that food access is a real barrier, and we are exploring new, exciting initiatives to better serve our student community,” Penn State student and Lion’s Pantry President Juan-Rodrigo Solares said in a release.

Solares and the executive board are looking into further transportation options to improve accessibility to the pantry.

The main pantry, located on Services Road, will remain open from 11 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
