Tyler Warren Named East-West Shrine Bowl Co-Offensive Breakout Player Of The Week

Tyler Warren is a household name, folks!

The Penn State football do-it-all tight end has been stack-piling the awards after his impressive performance Saturday in the Nittany Lions win over USC. The Mechanicsville, Virginia, native was named the East-West Shrine Bowl Co-Offensive Breakout Player of the Week as his latest honor on Monday.

The senior had a career day with a beyond-impressive stat line of 17 receptions, 224 receiving yards, nine passing yards, four rushing yards, and a receiving touchdown. Warren’s 17 receptions ties an FBS record as the most by a tight end in a single game.

The Swiss army knife for the Nittany Lion’s offense lined up at almost every single position on the offensive last Saturday, including at quarterback and center for his touchdown grab in the second half. Warren’s 224 receiving yards is a Big Ten and Penn State record by a tight end in a single game.

Warren was also named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week and AP Player of the Week for his performance against the Trojans. His touchdown grab over a USC defender also landed at No. 5 on SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays.
