[Photo Story] Penn State vs. Minnesota
Take a breath, folks.
Penn State football hit the road to face Minnesota in Minneapolis for the first time since its infamous loss in 2019, and this time around, the Nittany Lions pulled out a gritty 26-25 victory over the Golden Gophers. A fake punt converted by Luke Reynolds and a completion to Tyler Warren sealed the victory.
Through the ups and downs, our photographers were there to capture everything. Let’s take a look at how the game unfolded.
The stage for Saturday’s Big Ten matchup: Huntington Bank Stadium.
The team arrived at the stadium two hours before kickoff and was greeted by fans who made the journey up north.
Soon after the team’s arrival, players made their way to the field to get warmed up.
The pads were finally on as kickoff crept closer.
With kickoff moments away, the team walked through the tunnel to take the field for a 60-minute battle.
The Nittany Lions went down 10-0 early in the second half but responded with a 45-yard touchdown from Omari Evans.
Dom DeLuca snagged an interception, leading to an eventual field goal and tying of the game at 10 points apiece.
Just before time expired in the first half, Drew Allar rushed for Penn State’s second touchdown, and the teams entered halftime with a 19-16 Minnesota lead.
The game’s lone touchdown in the second half came from Nick Singleton on a 12-yard rush.
The Nittany Lions found themselves with a 4th-and-1 on their 34-yard line. A gutsy fake punt resulted in a 32-yard rush by Reynolds, which was the start of the end.
Penn State decided to gopher it again on 4th-and-1 and sealed the game with an 11-yard completion to Warren.
Players and coaches met at midfield to shake hands, but, most importantly, the Nittany Lions brought the Governor’s Victory Bell back to Happy Valley!
