Izzy Starck Named Big Ten Women’s Volleyball Freshman Of The Year

Penn State women’s volleyball setter Izzy Starck was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year, the conference announced Wednesday.

Starck led the team with 1,215 assists this season, ranking her first in the Big Ten and 11th in the nation. She also racked up 282 digs and 84 blocks.

The Nittany Lions had 10 players win the conference’s Freshman of the Year honor from 2002 to 2012, but Starck was the first to do so since 2018 and second since 2014.

The younger sister of senior outside hitter Anjelina Starck, Izzy Starck was a key piece in bringing Penn State a Big Ten title and No. 1 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

Starck and Penn State will return to action for the first round of the NCAA Tournament against Delaware State at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, December 6, at Rec Hall. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
