Former Penn State Women’s Volleyball Player Bayleigh Braswell Named Johns Hopkins Head Coach

Former Penn State women’s volleyball defensive specialist Bayleigh Braswell was named the head coach of Johns Hopkins women’s volleyball Thursday night, the team announced.
“I am thrilled to welcome Bayleigh to Johns Hopkins. Her passion for the sport, energy, and competitiveness were evident throughout the process and she is one of the true rising stars in the volleyball coaching profession,” Johns Hopkins athletic director Jennifer S. Baker said in a release. “I am excited to work with her as the leader of our program as we embark on the next chapter in our program’s history.”
Braswell appeared in 19 matches for the Nittany Lions in the 2018 season, helping bring the blue and white to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. She spent one year in Happy Valley after beginning her collegiate career at Louisiana Monroe.
After three seasons as an assistant coach for Loyola Maryland, Braswell is set to become to 11th head coach in program history for the Blue Jays. Johns Hopkins is coming off a 33-3 season under former head coach Matt Troy, who recently left for the same role at Elon.
“It is an honor to be named the head coach at Johns Hopkins University, and I look forward to working with the highly-motivated women in our program to help them reach their athletic and academic goals,” Braswell said.
